FS2000 Scenery
Summit Lake Floatplane Base (52Z)
By Tom Fica

=======================================================================
Summit Lake is located about half-way by air between Anchorage and Seward. Because it is adjacent to the hi-way it is not a heavily used floatplane base. It does have one air taxi service located there with one aircraft.

The area is a popular weekend destination for people from Anchorage. There is a Forest Service campground on the east side of the lake that is popular with local campers and tourists. Summit Lake Lodge is on the northwest end of the lake, next to the hi-way. The lodge has a bar and restaurant, rental cabins and a trading post. It's also known for serving one of the best hamburgers on the Kenai Peninsula. If your in the area and hungry, stop in for one, you won't be disapointed.

Install:

You'll need to have Airport and VOD textures installed in your main FS2000 texture folder. The file names are aip210tx.zip and vodtex30.zip. You can get them at any of the major download sites.

-Unzip slfb.zip in any folder
-Open FS2000
-Go to "world/scenery library"
-Click on "add area"
-Using the browser, go to where you have unzipped slfb
-Highlight the file
-Type a name in the bottom text box of the browser,"Summit Lake" for example
-click OK, then click the green checkmark
-Summit Lake will be listed in the Fs95 or Before menu and the main menu. It will also be on the FS2000 map and GPS as 52Z
-DO NOT put the textures into the FS2000 main texture folder

Alternate Method:
If you have any of my other sceneries installed (Beluga Lake, Iditarod or Brooks Camp) you can place the contents of the slfb scenery folder into the scenery folder of the already installed scenery and contents of slfb texture folder into the texture folder of the installed scenery. Overwrite when prompted. That's it. This method will save on disk space and the number of entries in the scenery.cfg file.

Credits:

This scenery would not be possible without the hard work and efforts of a lot of people with far more talent than myself. This scenery is after all just a collection of their work.

First, thanks to Derek Leung for the "FS Scenery Creator", this is a great program that's very easy to use.

Thanks to The following people for their Macros. These are the guys who put the realism in any scenery.

Doc George - Camp Trailer, Lodge, Trading Post and most of the cabins.
Jim Jackson - Tents, Camp Fires, BBQ, Docks and Picnic Tables.
Jim Faircloth - Eleviated Cabin
Rafael Garcia Sanchez - Cars
Ray Scott - Outhouses
Del Hopkins - Picnic Tables
Gerrish Grey - Trees
Also thanks to Gerry Schmidt for the Cessna 182, and Ken Nelson for his conversion of it to a static aircraft.

I would like to thank also other bush scenery designers who's work I admire and have tried to emulate. This list includes, but is not limited to: Don Moser, Ken Nelson, Ron Ackerly, Jim Jackson, Dave Erickson, Dave Gillespie, Joe Watson and Mathieu Tremblay.

Special thanks to Doc George for allowing me to use his texture (plank1.BMP) in the bridge macro that was created for this scenery and in the wooden grid that the Cessna is setting on. Also to Don Moser for his words of encouragement and advice on the placement and sizing of the trees.
